ITAR/TASS is the official state news agency for Russia. ITAR/TASS, formerly Information Telegraph Agency of Russia, translates and creates news releases for distribution worldwide. ITAR/TASS relies on correspondents to collect its news and has 74 bureaus in Russia and the other CIS countries, and 62 bureaus in 59 foreign countries. News coverage includes inter-state information, world, business, headline, and sports.
ITAR/TASS is contained in two databases: Files 607 and 667. File 607 contains current data beginning in June 1999. File 667 contains archive data spanning from July 1996 through May 1999. OneSearch/DIALINDEX category ITARTASS may be used to begin both files simultaneously; i.e., BEGIN ITARTASS.
