Database Description

Periodical Abstracts PlusText, produced by ProQuest Information and Learning, contains virtual cover-to-cover indexing and abstracting of articles in more than 1,800 general-reference publications, including 635 periodicals related to the social sciences, 396 related to the humanities, 169 in the general-sciences, 212 business titles, and 239 general-interest publications. The database now includes full-text articles from approximately 600 of the indexed titles.

Periodical Abstracts PlusText contains complete bibliographic citations, precise indexing, and informative abstracts for articles from a wide range of periodicals. Plus, full-text articles from many of the key publications are included. Abstract-and-index coverage is available from 1986 forward for some publications and from 1988 for most. Full-text coverage begins with 1992 material.

A sample of the diverse sources covered includes academic journals, such as: American Journal of Sociology, American Political Science Review, ABA Journal, Columbia Journalism Review; popular magazines, such as: Better Homes & Gardens, Ms., Rolling Stone, Mother Earth News; and business publications, such as: Fortune, Forbes, Inc., Money.
