AP (Associated Press) News provides the full text of its coverage of national, international, and business news, as well as sports and financial information. AP News is available 24 hours after the data are transmitted on its high-speed DataStream service. All words within the text are searchable, thus providing access to any subject that has been in the news. The Associated Press is the largest supplier of general-interest news to the media world-wide, serving more than 15,000 newspaper and broadcast outlets in 115 countries around the world.
AP News is compiled by more than 1,100 journalists in 141 United States news bureaus and 83 overseas news bureaus. In addition, as a U.S. news cooperative, the AP has access to the news compiled by approximately 1,500 newspaper members and 6,000 radio-television members in the United States.
AP News is contained in two databases: Files 258 and 858. File 258 contains current data beginning in January 2000. File 858 contains archive data spanning from July 1984 through December 1999. OneSearch/DIALINDEX category APNEWS may be used to begin both files simultaneously; i.e., BEGIN APNEWS.
