Figure 9-1 and Chart 9.12 show the revenue forecasts for the
bioinformatics market in the United Kingdom from 2006 to 2013.
The UK bioinformatics market was estimated to be worth $105.8
million in 2006 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 14.5 per
    cent during the period 2006-2013.

The key factors that account for the rapid growth in this
market include the huge R&D investments by the government,
which is even higher than the total private Biotech R&D
investments. The government R&D investment in biotechnology
in 2006 was $1,751.7 million. The United Kingdom also
accounts for nearly one third of the total European
pharmaceutical R&D investment. It is expected that the
Bioinformatics market in the United Kingdom would reach
    $274.1 million in 2013.
