    BEIJING, June 4 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- China will manufacture 100- 
    seat aircraft by year 2003, the Aviation Industries of China 
    (AVIC) has announced today. 
     
    A joint venture set up by the AVIC, the Science and Technology 
    company of Singapore, and the AIA company of Europe will turn out 
    105-and 125-seat airliners. 
     
  /TX  The general assembly line will be in China. 
    AVIC holds 46 percent of the total shares of the airbus project, 
    the AIA holds 39 percent, and the Singaporean Enterprise, 15 
    percent. European counterparts will provide technology 
    and experience in terms of engineering, production, quality 
    inspection and service, AVIC said.  The project is an important 
    step in AVIC's plan to manufacture jet airliners by its own. 
     
    At present, the country is expanding the production of MD-90 
    airliners,meaning the first-step plan is in full operation. 
    China is regarded as the largest potential aviation market in the 
    world. In the remaining years of this century, the country will 
    add 250 airliners.
