Agence France Presse International French Wire provides full-text articles in French relating to national, international, business, and sports news. Agence France Presse distributes its French service worldwide, including western and eastern Europe, Canada, northern and western Africa, the Middle East, Vietnam, French Guiana, West Indies, and the French Pacific islands.

The file is updated daily and records are displayed solely in French. For searching French-language files, DIALOG has expanded the stop word list to accomodate French words. The expanded list is as follows: A, AN, AND, AU, AUX, BY, D, D', DE, DES, DU, ET, FOR, FROM, L, L', LA, LE, LES, OF, THE, TO, UN, UNE, and WITH.

The service represents the totality of news collected by 950 AFP journalists and 2,000 stringers in over 129 countries.

Agence France Presse International French Wire is contained in two databases: Files 615 and 815. File 615 contains current data beginning in November 1999.     propose mercredi un nouveau systeme d'importations de bananes, 
    en conformite avec les regles de l'OMC (Organisation mondiale 
    du commerce), a annonce un porte-parole europeen. 
     
    Ce systeme, qui devrait aussi sauvegarder l'acces preferentiel 
    au marche europeen des pays ACP (*Afrique*-Caraobes-Pacifique), 
    prevoit un mecanisme en deux etapes. 
     
  /TX  Dans un premier temps, le systeme des contingents tarifaires, 
    qui avait ete condamne par l'OMC, reste en place jusqu'a la 
    fin de 2005, mais avec des amenagements. Au-dela de cette 
    date, les contingents devraient disparautre et ceder la place 
    a un systeme uniquement tarifaire, soit des droits d'entree 
    variables selon le pays d'origine. 
     
    Pendant la periode transitoire, deux contingents tarifaires 
    sont mis en place. 
     
    Un premier contingent reserve pour les pays d'Amerique Latine 
    et les pays ACP compterait 2,553 millions de tonnes, avec un 
    droit de douane de 75 euros par tonne pour les pays d'Amerique 
    Latine et nul pour les pays ACP. 
     
    Un deuxieme contingent de 850.000 tonnes est mis en place 
    pouvant varier selon les besoins du marche, partage entre 
    deux categories de fournisseurs:, les bananes d'Amerique 
    latine, avec un droit de 275 euros par tonne et les bananes 
    ACP avec un droit nul. 
     
    Les licences d'importation devraient etre distribues selon 
    le principe du premier arrive, premier servi pour le 1er 
    contingent. 
     
    Pour le deuxieme contingent, les licences d'importations 
    sont attribuees selon un systeme d'adjudication.

     sont  reunis  jeudi  et  vendredi  a Londres afin de preparer une 
     conference   consacree   au   controle   des  ventes  d'armements 
     conventionnels,  qui  se  tiendra  en  octobre  dans  la capitale 
     britannique, a-t-on appris aupres du Foreign Office. 
     
     Selon  un  porte-parole  du  FO, cette conference, organisee a la 
     suite  d'une  reunion  similaire  qui  s'etait tenue en juillet a 
     Paris,  pourrait  avoir  lieu  les  17  et  18  octobre.  Sa date 
     officielle n'a cependant pas encore ete fixee.

     qui  sont aussi les membres permanents du Conseil de Securite des 
     Nations  Unies (Chine, Etats-Unis, France, Grande-Bretagne, URSS) 
     avaient   engage   un   processus   de  negociations  en  vue  de 
     l'elaboration d'une sorte de code de "bonne conduite". L'objectif 
     en est notamment de restreindre les ventes "dangereuses" aux pays 
     a risque, a commencer par le Moyen Orient. 
     
     Le  controle des armements en Union Sovietique et la situation en 
     Europe  de  l'Est,  de  meme  que  la  crise yougoslave, devaient 
     egalement  etre evoques au cours de leur "reunion de travail" par 
     les experts reunis jeudi et vendredi a Londres, a huis clos. Plus 
     generalement,  ces experts ont examine quelles regles communes de 
     "retenue"  dans  les  ventes d'armes pourraient etre etudiees par 
     les cinq pays au cours de leur reunion d'octobre. 
     
     Selon le Foreign Office, la publication d'un communique a l'issue 
     de cette rencontre d'experts etait peu probable.
