File Description [top]

Population DemographicsTM provides statistical data on U.S. population, households, income, education, and occupations. Population data has breakdowns by sex, age groups, and race. Information on households is given by number of households, household size, age of householder, and households with children. Income information includes household income and age of householder by income. Education data reflects education attainment. Occupation data reflects such breakdowns as white/blue collar workers, marketing and sales, engineers, computer operators, physicians, teachers, clerical positions, and managerial/administrative workers.

Data in this file is drawn from U.S. Census Bureau material, updated demographic statistics, buying power indices, standard industrial classification counts, and standard occupation classifications totals of employees and key occupations.

1 The following entries are searchable with LV=: CITY, CMSA, COUNTY, DMA, MSA, NATION, DIVISION, STATE, and ZIP. Not all data elements are available for every record level.

2 Metropolitan Statistical Area includes PMSA and CMSA.

3 Numeric entries are indexed as complete numbers, rounded down to the two leftmost digits. Negative numbers are preceded by a minus sign. Use numeric operators (:, <, >, =, etc.) to search a range of values, e.g., S AA>=100000 to retrieve all records with census year total population of 100000 or more.
