The ICC British Company Directory is a comprehensive reference source for registered companies in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The file contains a record for each company included on the Index of Companies maintained by the official Companies Registration Offices in the U.K. The database also indexes companies that have been dissolved since 1968.

A cross-reference to ICC British Company Financial Datasheets (File 562) is provided within the records when more detailed coverage is available in that file.

Use file 561 to check:

• Whether a company exists and establish its correct name
• The date a company was formed
• Whether a proposed company name is already in use
• Possible infringements of your company name
• The date a company last filed accounts
• Companies incorporated on a particular date
• Companies registered at a specific address

Information in File 561 is derived from documents required under British law to be filed by all registered companies at Companies House in the U.K.

Each record includes the company name, registered number, and address; legal status; date of incorporation; dates of latest accounts, analysed accounts, and last annual return; amounts of nominal and issued capital; and a list of documents recently filed at Companies House. Document filings referenced as relevant include latest filed annual accounts and annual returns, changes of directors or registered address, special resolutions, mergers of public (Plc) companies, winding-up orders, appointment of liquidators, and notification of mortgages.
