DIALOG Company Name Finder^TM is a search aid database designed to locate company information in DIALOG databases. Company names are created in File 416 for unique entries in the company name indexes of the DIALOG files included. Company names are shown in the form in which they appear in the original database index, including abbreviations, punctuation (commas and periods are stripped out), and spelling variations, and are limited to 46 characters, the maximum length of an index entry. Long company names may be truncated because of the 46-character maximum.

Most DIALOG databases that index a company name in the Additional Indexes are included in the database. The majority of entries are for commercial firms; however, associations and non-profit organizations are also included.

Use of File 416 allows quick identification of files that have information pertaining to a particular company. When the exact name is unknown, the CO= index may be EXPANDed to browse company name variations. Key words in the name may be searched in the Basic Index.
