The DIALOG Journal Name Finder^TM, File 414, is a master index to journal names contained in DIALOG databases. Individual records have been created for all unique entries in the JN= and JO= indexes. Journal names are included in the form in which they appear in the original database index, including characters, the maxium length of an index entry. Some journal titles are incomplete because of the truncation. The use of truncation is recommended to retrieve all possible variations of journal titles and to eliminate the 46 character maximum field length.

Most DIALOG databases having searchable, phrase-indexed JN= or JO= fields are included in the database, except when the journal name field includes cited references. Most entries are for the journal name, but entries may also include conference names, report numbers, or other data that is placed in the Journal Name field by the database producer. Only databases with bibliographic data are included.

Use of File 414 allows quick identification of files having the most comprehensive coverage of a journal. When the exact name is unknown, any key word in the title may be selected. To assure complete retrieval, truncate search terms to allow for abbreviated words.
