| /LP,/TX | The Denver Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau will open its |
| Downtown information center Thursday - complete with live music | |
| and drawings for prizes - at its new, expanded location in the | |
| Tabor Center. | |
| The new center replaces the center at Colfax and 14th St., | |
| which has been closed and was the site of the bureau's Downtown | |
| facility since 1950. | |
| /TX | Features of the new center include additional space, many |
| more services and a location with higher visitor traffic. | |
| New at the center are a computer terminal so visitors can | |
| access the bureau's Web site, TV monitors to present videos on | |
| area attractions, an expanded brochure rack detailing hundreds | |
| of area attractions and a gift shop that will sell Denver | |
| souvenirs, including guide books, clothes, maps and postcards. | |
| Eugene Dilbeck, the bureau's president, said when the old | |
| center was built, the main attraction was the U.S. Mint, but he | |
| noted that traffic has shifted from that area. Now, he said, | |
| research shows that the 16th Street Mall is the second largest | |
| attraction in Denver. | |
