/AB, XT   ABSTRACT:  Software Publishing's $395 Harvard Graphics 3.0 for
Windows presentation package has been upgraded with E-mail and
conferencing features, but can only be used on Windows platforms.
New presentations are easy to create with the handy tools palette
and Animation Player application. A variety of fonts and sound
files are supported, which makes Harvard Graphics flexible
     in accommodating different presentation elements.
The Outliner function is weaker than those found in competing
products, especially in the area of file importing. Slide shows
can be easily created and rearranged and useful Thumbnails of
applied effects provide advance information on the final results.
The latest upgrade could benefit from better notes and handout
     support.

     TEXT:
/LP, /XT, /TX         Quick presentation creations and a design checker
distinguish Software Publishing Corp.'s Harvard Graphics
3.0 for Windows. Released at the end of August, the $395
Harvard Graphics 3.0 presentation program is well-suited
for groups working on business presentations and for
individual users who occasionally need to whip up
           presentations.
             .
             .
             .
PC Week Labs tested Harvard Graphics 3.0 for Windows on several
PCs that are typical of the machines on which many users are
creating presentations: a 33MHz 386DX-based Dell Computer Corp.
     333D; a 33MHz 486DX-based Dell 333DE; and a 50MHz 486DX2-based
Dell Latitude 450MC notebook. To test performance, we created a
10-slide presentation in Harvard Graphics consisting of a title
slide, six bullet slides with some clip-art graphics,
     a pie-chart slide, a bar-chart slide, and an organizational-chart
slide. Because we couldn't directly import our Harvard Graphics
presentation into PowerPoint, we duplicated the test presentation
from scratch in PowerPoint. We also tested the conferencing
feature over a Novell Inc. NetWare 3.12 LAN via NetBIOS.
