    Warren Flick becomes US Kmart Stores president and general 
    merchandise manager as well as Kmart Corp executive VP. Martin 
    Welch was appointed chief financial officer. Joseph Collins become 
    senior VP of logistics after having served as strategic business 
    integration/productivity improvement VP.

    executive team with three appointments it hopes will bolster its 
    position in the marketplace, provide stability and confidence and 
    move the operation forward. 
  /TX       Leading the way is Warren Flick, former president of Sears de 
    Mexico, who starts with the dawn of the new year. He has been named 
    president and general merchandise manager of U.S. Kmart Stores and 
    executive vp of Kmart Corp. 
         Also new is Martin Welch III, chief financial officer. Welch 
    joins Kmart from Federal-Mogul Corp., a Detroit auto parts 
    manufacturer, where he was finance chief. He also spent time at 
    Chrysler, where he held several financial positions. Also, Kmart 
    exec Joseph Collins was elevated to senior vp of logistics from 
    vp strategic business integration and productivity improvement.

         Flick spent most of his professional career, which began in 
    1966, at Sears. But in 1980, he left for Harper Industries, where 
    he served as executive vp, apparel merchandising, importing and 
    manufacturing. In 1984, Flick joined Montgomery Ward as gmm, 
    women's apparel and  footwear, leaving there in 1986 as vp, gmm, 
    men's and child ren's. When he rejoined Sears in 1988, it was as 
    group vp, men's  and kids'. He capped his career there as 
    chairman and ceo of Sears Mexico, a position assumed in 1994.
