  /TX       A hat trick of profits warnings this quarter has sent 
    Laird spiralling down, despite management's attempts to diminish the 
    bad news. Ahead of the interim figures, the shares were approaching 
    500p on full-year profits forecasts of L70m. Now the forecasts are cut to 
    L45m and the shares are less than 300p. Takeover rumours are supporting the 
    price but little goodwill remains to support the management.

    value of each share falls proportionately. Kingfisher's 2:1 split has 
    reduced the share price from around L10 to around L5, but each shareholder 
    now owns twice as many.
